water bottles (400x400)Fluid loss throughout your body accelerates as you perform regular cardio or strength building exercises. To keep dehydration at bay, you must constantly consume water before, during and after your workouts. Bring along a water bottle in your gym bag to make it easy and convenient to consume enough water to keep your body healthy. Modern water bottles have specially designed components that filter, measure and insulate your water. Check it out.

Ultra Filtered

If you are used to drinking filtered water at home, you might feel squeamish about filling up with tap while on the go. Luckily, you can invest in a water bottle with a built in filtration system to circumvent this issue. With each sip, the tiny system filters out contaminants, like chlorine, in the water using carbon canisters. As a result, your water will always taste fresh and clean, no matter where you fill up. You must replace the filter canisters every 300 to 400 fill ups by unscrewing the device from the bottom of the lid.

Measurements

If you want to keep precise track of how much water you drink each day, consider using a water bottle that displays clear measurements. You can find water bottles with milliliter and ounce measurements marked up the sides. If you often lose track of the number of bottles you have emptied each day, pick up one with a metering ring around the base. The ring counts up to six refills, so you can count up to a gallon of water consumed each day. You can even obtain a water bottle with a digital readout for precise tracking, but it will cost you a bit more than the other options.

Super Insulated

If you dislike drinking lukewarm water, consider a super insulated bottle to keep the contained fluids ice cold. Most insulated bottles feature double walls filled with air or liquid in between. The manufacturers construct the bottles out of stainless steel or BPA-free plastic materials that also act as insulators.

Bottles with air-filled walls prevent heat transfer between the water inside the bottle and the air outside. These water bottles often have a vacuum seal that sucks out air from inside the bottle to amplify the cooling effect. You throw bottles with liquid filled walls in the freezer to keep your drink cold for hours without taking up room in the reservoir with ice. This feature also keeps flavored drinks from being watered down as the ice melts.

Finding Your Perfect Match

If you’re lucky, you can find a water bottle with all three of these features integrated into its design. Test out water bottles from different manufacturers to find the right size, spout type and features for your needs. You will also need to try out different water bottles to find one that lasts the test of time. Once you identify your perfect match, you won’t want to switch to any other brand. However, don’t let that dissuade you from keeping your eyes open for new water bottle features on the market each year.
