dumbells (400x400)Whether you are already involved in a fitness plan, starting one, or just restarting a “jump start” might be what you need to get your results moving in the right direction. If you have to decide that this is the year that you will be in the shape you dream of for the summer then follow these guidelines and watch those abs appear.

1. Challenge yourself. Sticking with a fitness plan is tough on the body and the schedule, but the biggest challenge is the mental part. You must set realistic and important goals. Set just one small goal per week and focus on it, at that point it is a test of will power; something as simple as getting in 5 workouts, not eating any refined sugar, or drinking 10 glasses of water every day. Pick a small goal then Challenge yourself to stick with it for the week – these little things will add up to big results.

2. Do something different. Most of us have heard the saying “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got”. This is very true for exercising; many of us do the same workout routine regularly because it’s what we know and are comfortable with. Your body adapts to change; if you want your body to keep changing your workout must do the same. If you need a new workout routine try talking with a Personal Trainer, they should be able to help you spice up your program. If personal training is not an option for you then try a book, or there are many resources online.

3. Keep a food journal. This is the most effective way to get your nutrition plan on track. By recording your food intake there will be no question about how many calories you’re consuming and the quality of your diet. Writing down everything you put in your body will make you think twice about your choices. It doesn’t matter how much you work out if you’re not eating well your results will be slow at best.

Follow these basic guidelines and you’re sure to have a great summer. For more information feel free to contact me at AmericanFitnessCenterNH.com.
