woman and mirror (400x400)Everyone has at least one feature that they truly accept and appreciate. Whether your favored feature is your beautiful eye color, strong calves or stunning fingernails, it is important to start your journey to self-acceptance there. Show yourself appreciation the same way you would offer compliments to a stranger, friend or family member. Simply look in the mirror and verbally give yourself that compliment. Make sure you really mean it, too.

Avoid the urge to let your gaze move onto other parts of your body that you’re used to scrutinizing. Just step away before your mind has a chance to turn negative. The next time you come across the mirror, try out the same compliment routine with a different area of your body. Look at yourself objectively and find something you would compliment on someone else. Repeat these sessions as often as possible until you have an entire list of things you love about your body.

Challenge yourself to focus on perceived problem areas to find good things about those parts of your body as well. By focusing on the positive aspects of yourself, you learn to automatically build up your confidence each time you look in the mirror.
